Dog Health & Behaviour Declaration

I confirm that:

My dog is up-to-date with vaccinations.
My dog is in good physical health and free from contagious illness.
I have disclosed any behavioural concerns (e.g., aggression, fearfulness, reactivity).
I understand that Shimmy Downs Kelpies reserves the right to remove any dog from the class if their behaviour is deemed unsafe to others, livestock, or themselves.

I confirm my dog/s meet the health and behaviour requirements.

Acknowledgement of Risk

I understand that participating in working dog training classes at Shimmy Downs Kelpies (SDK) involves interactions with livestock, other dogs, physical activity, and outdoor environments. I acknowledge that:

Working dog training carries inherent risks, including but not limited to: slips, falls, bites, kicks, scratches, collisions, and unpredictable behaviour from dogs or livestock.
My dog may experience stress, fatigue, or injury while participating.
Livestock are unpredictable, and although all reasonable precautions are taken, accidents may occur.

I participate voluntarily and accept full responsibility for my own safety and the safety of my dog.

Owner Responsibility

I agree to:

Keep my dog under control at all times and follow all instructions from SDK trainers.
Use proper equipment as outlined by Shimmy Downs Kelpies
Remain with my dog during the entire session unless otherwise instructed.
Arrive and depart on time for my allocated session.

I understand that failure to follow instructions may result in removal from the session with no refund.

Property & Livestock Rules

I acknowledge that Shimmy Downs is a working farm. I agree to:

Stay within designated training areas.
Respect livestock and farm operations.
Not enter any restricted areas.
Ensure all gates are left as found (open/closed).
Keep my dog on lead unless directed otherwise by the trainer.

I accept full responsibility for any damage caused by myself, my dog, or anyone attending with me.

Liability Waiver

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, I release and indemnify Shimmy Downs Kelpies, its owners, staff, and property from any liability, claims, demands, damages, or expenses arising from:

Injury to myself, my dog, or any person attending with me
Loss or damage to personal property
Injury or death of animals (including livestock or dogs)
Any incident occurring before, during, or after the training session

I understand that Shimmy Downs Kelpies will take reasonable care but cannot guarantee the safety of participants, dogs, or livestock.

Media Consent

I give permission for Shimmy Downs Kelpies to take photos or videos during training and use them for social media, marketing, or educational purposes.

Payment, Refunds & Cancellations

Payment is required at the time of booking.
Cancellations or rescheduling must comply with Shimmy Downs Kelpies’ cancellation policy.
No refunds are provided for non-attendance or late arrivals.
Group classes run in most weather conditions unless considered unsafe by the trainer.

I understand and agree to the payment, refund and cancellation conditions.

I agree that this waiver remains valid for all future bookings unless updated by Shimmy Downs Kelpies.
